JESUS IS OUR SABBATH REST

Enter into Him, and find eternal rest for your soul.

Jesus said,

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

The Sabbath Day was a picture of Christ being our eternal rest, not about a temporary day of rest. Everything in the Old Testament had a spiritual meaning to it. The animal skins that covered Adam & Eve's nakedness, were a symbol of our sins being covered by Jesus' blood and His sacrifice, and I believe the animal that had to be slain was an innocent lamb, to represent Jesus Christ(Revelation 13:8) as the Lamb of God. Noah's Ark was a symbol of Christ, as well. He is the Ark. If we enter Him, we are safe from death. The lamb's blood on the door of the Israelite's, in Exodus, was about Jesus' blood keeping us from death. Moses parting the Red Sea was also a symbol of Christ. The Red Sea represented His blood, and when we cross His "red sea", we are saved. The lamb sacrifices represented His final sacrifice for our sins. In the Old Testament, the Israelites would sacrifice a lamb once a year to have their sins forgiven, temporarily, but Jesus, being THE Lamb of God, and the final sacrifice for our sins, when we trust in Him and His blood to save us, we are forgiven, permanently. Everything the prophets did was to bring the Messiah. John the Baptist was the last human prophet to bring Him forth. Now, there is no need for human prophets, high priests, kings and/or other rulers. He is our Prophet, LORD, King, and High Priest in one!

"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrew 4:14-16

He's the King of kings, and Lord of lords.

Jesus said,

“The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.” (Meaning, He IS the Sabbath, and was made to be our Sabbath rest!) Mark 2:27-28

Then Paul Said to the Galatians, who were tempted to go back to observing the law, and the holy days, to be justified, instead of being justified by grace through faith in Jesus Christ,

"But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain." Galatians 4:9-11

"For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace." Galatians 5:1-4

"O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?" Galatians 3:1-3

Then Paul told something similar to the believers in Colossians,

"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ." Colossians 2:16-17

The holy days and feasts were a foreshadowing of Christ! Jesus' sacrifice for our sins was on the Sabbath! He was our Passover Lamb! It's not wrong to observe these days, if it's one of your ways to honor the LORD, but it's not how to please God, or the correct way to be justified by Him, that just spits in the face of Christ, and it demeans His sacrifice for our sins. It's impossible to please God without faith! BELIEVING in His sacrifice for our sins, His burial, and resurrection; the Gospel(Good News), with the same type of faith of a child, and trusting Him as your personal Savior, is what saves us. We are justified by faith, alone, before God, we are justified by works before men, or the lost. Our good works benefit them, helping them want to know Christ, and be saved. Our good works will cause them to glorify our Heavenly Father. It will let know that we are children of God, as well. We should let our light shine.

That is what Jesus meant in Matthew 5:16:

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

So, please, don't let legalistic, false teachers indoctrinate you, and tell you that you must observe the Sabbath Day, don't let them put you under stress, and cause you to be under bondage of the law. That's not resting. The Sabbath Day was made to be a symbol of someone; Jesus Christ, He is our rest, His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. He didn't come to put a bigger burden on us. We have freedom in Him. The Sabbath Day was never about a single day of rest. It has always had a spiritual meaning. Believers are no longer under the law, we are under GRACE.

So, as James 2:12 says,

"So speak and act as those who are to be judged under the law of freedom." James 2:12
